The Outdoors

Posting this a day late.....but Saturday was an amazing day.  After rain and more rain over the past week, the sun was out and we took advantage of that face.  We spent the morning gardening and in the evening hung out outside on the field in our neighborhood.  A few of the neighbors organized a community outdoor movie night and it was the perfect night for it.  The kids and I have fun hanging out and watching the movie.  An added bonus was there was beer!

Pain free

It is my weekend and I always try to go to the gym on Friday morning.  But the last few months I've had to skip some workouts due to pain in my left elbow.  It has been extremely frustrating, especially since I'm right handed.  I did a full body workout today in the free weight room and for the first time in months I had absolutely no elbow pain.  I have a long road to get back to my previous strength but today was a great first step.

Fried Chicken

Another crazy week at work finally came to and end after with the UN General Assembly and the Senate hearing on the president's Supreme Court nominee.  It seemed like a perfect day to indulge in some unhealthy food!  My mom has recently had hand surgery so she was also craving some good food.  I ended up going to a local fried chicken place and we pigged out on freshly fried legs and thighs.  It was sooooo good and a nice way to start the weekend.

Biking

After a crazy day at work I came home and got on my bike. It was a nice sunny day for a while and I had so much fun getting taking my bike on to the trail. I got in about five miles before I got home to play with the dogs. It started to rain later in the day but I was glad I was able to enjoy the sun. 

Lenny Kravitz

Posting this a day late because we got home past midnight.....After a long day at work my wife and I drove into DC to go to the Lenny Kravitz concert at the Anthem.  It is a beautiful venue to watch live music.  A couple of my high school friends also showed up for the concert.  It was great catching up but the best part of the night was the amazing performance by Lenny Kravitz.  He sounded great live as did his band.  It was also an amazing and diverse crowd.  We got home pretty late but it the experience was worth it for sure.

Gametime

I was tired at work after a late night out but I got to watch my favorite football team play well and win.  They came out on fire in the first half and built up an insurmountable lead.  Washington ended up holding on to win despite an amazing effort by Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rogers, who was essentially playing on one leg.  Now my team has to keep it going.

Dressing Up

After a nice day that included a victory for my son's soccer team, my wife and I spent the evening at a fundraising event.  I wore my blue European suit and my wife wore a beautiful green dress.  She looked amazing.  At the event, we enjoyed drinks and food and even pledged some money for a good cause.  We did a bit of dancing and had good conversations with our friends.  It was a fun night for sure...and I even wore fun socks.

Hanging Out

It was another beautiful day today....and after a long day at work I made plans to meet up with some friends down in Virginia.  One of my friends couldn't make it but I still went out and had great time hanging out.  We went to a Biergarten where we drank German beer and sat outside where there was live music and the football game in the background.  There was good conversation and a lot of joking around....something that is needed from time to time!

Cardio

Today was a beautiful day outside so after work I got on my bike and took off on a nice trail. About two and a half miles in I got a text from a friend asking to play tennis.  So I biked back as fast as I could and met him on the tennis court.  We hit for about an hour and it was so much fun.  I love tennis and it was great to be exercising outside on this wonderful day.

Yum

As we do every Tuesday we had an amazing dinner at my mom’s place. The highlight was the amazing kebabs with an egg in the middle. It was absolutely delicious and a good way to end the day.

Monday Volleyball

Today rushed home from work and got dinner going because I had to take my daughter to her weeknight volleyball practice.  I usually drop the kids off at their practices and leave but I chose to stay and watch.  I got to see her enjoying herself as she practiced bumping, setting and serving.  I was really proud watching her do her best.  I will probably stay to watch all her practices.

Pups

Coming home from work is always the best...but the greeting I get from my two pups is amazing.  After a long day, I had fun spending time with our older pup Topaz outside.  She gets so excited when I go in the yard with her and grab her favorite ball.  We play fetch and she is so good at catching the ball off the bounce in her mouth.  All the running and she is now sleeping soundly.  I'm sure we will do it again tomorrow!

Hanging Out

After a one day break from the blog I spent most of the day outside. It was the first sunny day in about a week. I had a surprise invitation from one of my friends to go and hang out at th newly opened Guinness brewery in Maryland, the first such brewery in the United States. We all enjoyed trying the new Guinness white ale but the best part was taking to my friends.  It was a real fun night.

Relaxing, Binge Watching

After a long week at work, it was nice to finally get some time tonight to relax with my wife.  After the kids went to bed we watched a few episodes of one of our favorite shows, Homeland.  We have binge watched 5 seasons of the show in the last few months.  We made it to season 6 tonight!  We hope to finish the season by the end of the week.

Son gets connected

Today I helped my son set up my old iphone as his.  He got his own phone number and it was really nice to see how excited he was.  I helped him get his apple id and set up his contacts.  It was a real thrill for me to see the happiness in his face.  Now I can send his all the crazy gifs and emojis I send other people!

Dinner

It was Tuesday and after a long day taking care of things we were all looking forward to dinner at my Parents’s house. My mom is the best cook and tonight she has keema, saag paneer, potatoes, cabbage along with some fresh tomato chutney. Everything was delicious and as usual we had lots of food to take home.

Break from Downpours

It has been raining like crazy for the last couple of days.  Even though it was cloudy today we got a bit of a break.  I was able to take my son to soccer practice and even fire up the grill for dinner.  I got a walk in with the dogs too.  The next few days are calling for more rain but I appreciated the break in the precipitation for at least one day this week.

Football is back

Summer of officially over but with the end of summer comes the beginning of football season.  Today my favorite team played its season opening match and surprisingly was really good.  The team from Washington dominated the Arizona Cardinals en route to a 24-6 victory.  It was fun to watch my team play so well and this gives me hope of a good season ahead.

Hanging with Friends

There is something really special about spending time with old friends.  Today we drove about an hour and a half away to my friend's house for the party.  I've known him since junior high school and we've been close friends since then.  Our family hung out with their family and we all had fun.  I even got time to jam on guitar.  It was a fun night.

Happy Hour

For the first time in a long time Inwent to happy hour with my coworkers. It was a bright sunny day and we all met at a place overlooking the water in DC. It had great refreshing margaritas and a good beer selection. But the best part of hanging out with my friends from work outside of the office.

Home early

So I woke up at 130am after two hours of sleep. I tried and tried but couldn’t fall back to sleep. I decided to get out of bed and go to work early. So what great about that? I got to go home early, hit the gym and have food quality time at home. Although I was a bit tired being able to get home early in th afternoon made it a great day. 

Back at work

Today was my first day back at work. As much as I love being on vacation it was nice to see my coworkers after two weeks. It was the usual busy day at work but working with people you know enjoy being around made it a fun day. 

Last day of vacation

It has been a really long time since I've been at work and today was my final day of vacation.  There was a lot to do with unpacking and laundry but all of us slept in.  I woke up briefly to let the dogs out but went back to bed.  We all started emerging downstairs around 11:30am.  Sleep is hard to come by once work starts but it really felt good to get one more day without a 5am alarm.

Homecoming

It was the end of a more than two week vacation. As much as it is nice traveling coming home to our dogs is the best. We missed them so much and they were so excited when I picked them up from the dog sitter. We spent the rest of the day cuddling. They are the best.

Time with old friends

Posting a few hours late......we spent our last day in Seattle again roaming around the city. We met for brunch with one of my wife’s friends from college who just moved to the city. Her and her family met my whole family for the first time since we all had kids. It had been close to two decades since my my wife and her friend had met up. They had fun catching up and the kids and I enjoyed hanging out with everyone else.  We had so much fun spending time together during  HWe day we will need up at their hius for dinner at night.  It was a nice end to our long vacation.
